Cultural Competency Training: Working Effectively with Immigrant Families

The training uses film as a springboard into issues of cultural competency. This training will encourage participants to reflect on the experiences of immigrant families and how these experiences shape their approach to care. After building heightened sensitivity to these unique needs, the dialogue will focus on two modules – Supporting Families and Building Bridges – to move towards resolution. Participants will come away better prepared to understand situations, identify cultural challenges and formulate solutions in their care environments.
