There will be a facilitated discussion about “Making Service Coordination Real: Collaboration Amongst Community Based Organization and with the County” in relation to services for transition aged current and former foster youth.

| Campaign for Safe Transitions Update |

| Assembly Bill 824 (Chu) the bill that would allow youth to access THP-plus housing through the age of 24 has passed through Passed out of the Senate Human Services Committee on June 28th and moves on to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Senate Bill 436 (Migden) which requires counties opting into the THP-plus program to consider the needs of pregnant and parenting foster youth. This money will be dedicated to increasing the number of THP-Plus units for parenting former foster youth. The Bill was heard on June 29 in the Assembly Appropriations Committee and placed in the suspense file.

Young voices from the Oakland streets, Six powerful documentary videos made by Oakland youth.
Q & A with youth filmmakers after the screening
What: East Bay Asian Youth Center Presents: Streetside Productions Youth Documentary Showcase. This is a screening of 90-minutes of the best work from East Oakland's Streetside Productions-stories that include real issues facing youth- including violence, gangs, getting locked up, probation, and the Oakland schools crisis. Also, a couple of lighthearted documentaries that look at the ancient tradition of dreadlocks, and a glimpse into youth hip hop in the Oakland community. One of the featured films won honorable mention for best short documentary at the 2004 Oakland International Film Festival.
When: Saturday July 9th, 2005. Box office and doors open at 2:15pm. Live youth performance at 2:45pm. Films start screening promptly at 3:00pm.
Where: Parkway Theatre, 1834 Park Boulevard, Oakland, CA 94606.
Admission: $3 youth under 18, $5 adults.

Streetside Productions is an after-school video production and job training program that provides Oakland youth with hands-on training in documentary video storytelling. Empowering young people to produce media with their own hands, from their own points of view, inspired by life experiences allowing them to express themselves and to tell their stories. Based in Oakland, California, Streetside Productions is a program of the East Bay Asian Youth Center and is funded by the Alameda County Probation Department -Community Probation Unit.

Mentally ill persons and the criminal justice system: Public meeting to propose change/
Proposition 63/MHSA Planning
Are you interested in the criminalization of mental illness? Come help the planning for the Mental Health Services Act to address this important issue.
The Criminal Justice Planning Group for Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services is asking for information and suggestions that will help to strengthen our current mental health system. The purpose of this group is to develop a plan in accordance with the recently enacted Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) to prevent, divert, serve and follow-up with individuals whose behaviors risk or lead to involvement with the criminal justice system. This Planning Group is asking for public input on the components of this plan as it is being developed.
The objective of the plan is to propose specific measures for transforming the criminalization of mental illness. To that end, the Criminal Justice Planning Group is holding a public meeting to identify needs and to discuss proposed solutions. This meeting is open to everyone. Light refreshments will be served!
