FYA Professional Development Training June 14th
 

Come to the last FYA Professional Development Training of 2004-05:

Common Issues and Behaviors of Teens in Foster Care Learn more about teens in foster care.

This training is a joint project of FYA, Seneca Center and The Chabot FKCE.

Date and Time: Tuesday June 14th from 9:30 until 12:30.

Campaign for Safe Transitions Update/Action Alert
 
Assembly Bill 824 (Chu) the bill that would allow youth to access THP-plus housing through the age of 24 has passed through the Assembly and has moved to the Senate. The Senate Human Services Committee hears the Bill at the end of June. Senate Bill 436 that requires counties opting into the THP-plus program to consider the needs of pregnant and parenting foster youth is in the Assembly and will be heard next week.

 
Events for Youth at The First Place Fund for Youth in June
 

Every Wednesday @ 4:00pm: Come and join our weekly discussion group where we talk about topics such as relationships and love to the Matrix and the Iraq War. Open to former and present foster youth between the ages of 16 and 23. Call Justin for this weeks topic @ 272-0979 x 10.

Project Bridge at Laney College
 

If you want to brush up on your reading writing and mathematics come to Project Bridge at Laney College. Project Bridge is a basic skills learning community.

Registration for Fall Semester 2005 is now going on in room A-109. Classes begin on Wednesday, August 17, 2005

If your income is low, you may be eligible for a tuition fee waiver and financial aid.

Drum Line Clinic Begins, Free for Oakland Youth
 

The Pride of Oakland Drum and Bugle Corps has kicked off its’ summer program. Jason Jong and staff is inviting your youth to our FREE Beginning Marching Percussion Clinic! All clinics will be held at:

Arroyo Viejo Recreation Center
7701 Krause Ave
(Off of 73rd Ave and below Bancroft in East Oakland)

We'll be sharing our basic techniques and exercises and expanding upon our successful presentation of world percussion rhythms as a foundation for marching percussion at the 2005 Oakland Day of Percussion. Join us as we gear up for the 2005 Alameda County Fair Parade!

Do you know budding young Dancers and Brass players? We're very excited to announce the following Summer Session schedule for all three sections of the Corps:

Summer Session Rehearsal Schedule:
Mondays, 6-8PM through August 15th, current for percussion; beginning June 13th for Brass and Color Guard. Percussion and Brass have additional rehearsals every other Saturday 1-4PM
All rehearsals take place at Arroyo Viejo Rec Center.
