Special Extended FYA Membership Meeting on Friday July 15th
 

Come to the Foster Youth Alliance Membership meeting on Friday, July 15th and participate in something special.

There will be a facilitated discussion about “Making Service Coordination Real: Collaboration Amongst Community Based Organization and with the County” in relation to services for transition aged current and former foster youth.

Michael Wright of the Results Group will facilitate the discussion.

Campaign for Safe Transitions Update
 
Even more Great News! Senator Migden has added a $250,000 appropriation to Senate Bill 436 which requires counties opting into the THP-plus program to consider the needs of pregnant and parenting foster youth. This money will be dedicated to increasing the number of THP-Plus units for parenting former foster youth. The Bill will be heard on June 29 in the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

Assembly Bill 824 (Chu) the bill that would allow youth to access THP-plus housing through the age of 24 has passed through the Assembly and has moved to the Senate. The Senate Human Services Committee hears the Bill on June 28th.

Every Wednesday @ 4:00pm: Come and join our weekly discussion group where we talk about topics such as relationships and love to the Matrix and the Iraq War. Open to former and present foster youth between the ages of 16 and 23. Call Justin for this weeks topic @ 272-0979 x 10.

Every Thursday in June Starting @ 5:30, Sports Movie Night: Come out and watch good guys finish first @ First Place. 6/23 “Miracle”, 6/30 “Remember the Titans”

Alameda County ILSP is Hiring a “Housing Specialist”
 
Every year approximately 300 youth emancipated from foster care and probation in Alameda County. Most of these youth have an immediate need for stable housing. For the past five years Alameda County ILSP has maintained a full-time housing specialist to help these newly emancipated young adults locate suitable housing as they begin their post-secondary education and/or career employment track.

Seneca Center Manager Training Series in August
