Winter Shelter

The Tri-City Homeless Coalition's Winter Relief Family Shelter will remain open to provide shelter, case management services, counseling and a variety of other services through April 2007. This is a good way for clients to gain access to many other great programs at Tri-City Homeless Coalition such as Sunrise Village Shelter, Project Independence, and many of other resources to housing that we may have. The shelter sites are located in Fremont and Newark (a local church hosts the families for a month at time). Single and two-parent families are welcome (don't need to be married to stay together in the shelter). For more information or to enter into the shelter, please call Kara Carnahan, HOPE Project Manager at 510-378-7917.

The Autism Journey

The Autism Journey
An evening with Kamran Nazeer in conversation with KFOG’s Peter Finch

Kamran Nazeer will discuss his book Send in the Idiots: Stories from the Other Side of Autism, with San Francisco’s KFOG Morning Show Co-Host and News Director Peter Finch. Peter is the father of an 18-year old son with Aspergers Syndrome. A policy advisory for the British government, Kamran writes about his reunions with four of his classmates from a school for children with autism in New York. He tells his story, as well as their stories, about growing up with autism and forging adult identities. People interested in living with autism and parents of children with autism will be fascinated by Kamran’s original reflections on the journey of autistic children.
