FYA Training on PTSD: August 8
 
The next FYA Professional Development Training will address “The Impact of Trauma on Child Development/PTSD.” This training will be held on Tuesday, August 8th, from 9:30 to 12:30 at the ILSP Office, 2647 International Blvd., Suite 312, Oakland. This training is a joint project of FYA, Seneca Center, and Chabot FKCE.

Emancipation Support Circle
 

The next Emancipation Support Circle is scheduled for Wednesday, August 9th, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the CASA Offices, 1000 San Leandro Blvd., Suite 300, San Leandro..

TEAM WITH SUCCESSFULLY EMANCIPATED FORMER FOSTER YOUTH, FELLOW GRADUATES AND ADULT SUPPORTERS FOR:
1. Practical information and transitional resources;
2. Fun, games, celebration and friendship;
3. Emotional Support.
MEETINGS WILL BE HELD TWICE MONTHLY EVERY
2nd Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
3rd or 4th Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Come once or twice a month! Come as you are!!
Come when you can!!! Just come and join the fun!!!!

The support circle is a joint project of foster youth, former foster youth and adult friends and is supported by: ALACO CYC, RJOY, ALACO CASA, ALACO Public Dfdr. 300 unit, and other friends of emancipating youth.

SUPPORT CIRCLE DATES THROUGH SEPTEMBER WILL BE:

Wednesday, August 9th, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 26th, 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 13th, and Saturday September 16th (3rd Saturday this month) from 11:30 pm. To 1:30 p.m.

 
Fundraiser for HEY - Gold Rush City Tour
 
Come relive the early history of an instant city, San Francisco, and support HEY as well! Learn about a fleet of abandoned ships that still lie beneath the city's streets. Walk the streets of Yerba Buena Cove and learn about the haunts of the original 49ers! Your tour cost is $25.00 per person, part of which will be donated to HEY - $10 to City Guides and $15 to HEY.

The walk starts at 6 p.m. sharp and we will end up at the Old Ship Saloon at 7:30 p.m. for a few cocktails in the old abandoned ship, The Arkansas, which was wrecked on the island of Alcatraz and towed into the harbor.
If you cannot join us for the walking tour, we encourage you to meet up at the Old Ship Saloon, which is located at 298 Pacific Avenue in the heart of Old San Francisco. Hope to see you there.

New Date for Select Committee on Foster Care September Conference
 
The Select Committee conference date has been changed. The conference is now scheduled to be held in Sacramento on Friday, September 15, 2006 from 9am - 5 pm.

In order to appropriately plan for the conference, the committee would appreciate your prompt response if you are interested in participating. For all of those who have already responded it will not be necessary to respond a second time.
