FYA Training on PTSD: August 8
 
The next FYA Professional Development Training will address “The Impact of Trauma on Child Development/PTSD.” This training will be held on Tuesday, August 8th, from 9:30 to 12:30 at the ILSP Office, 2647 International Blvd., Suite 312, Oakland. This training is a joint project of FYA, Seneca Center, and Chabot FKCE.

Presentation at Pivotal Point: August 2
 
The Department of Labor will conduct an Open Press Check Presentation at Pivotal Point Youth Services, Inc. on August 2, 2006, at 2:00 p.m.

Jedd Medefind, Director of the Labor Department's Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, will present a $75,000 grant to La Tronda Lumpkins, Director of Pivotal Point Youth Services. The community-based non-profit, which specializes in vocational skill development, and job placement for at-risk youth, is one of only two Bay Area Organizations to receive funding as part of the Department of Labor's ongoing initiative to partner its existing programs with effective faith-based and community organizations to better serve the needy.

Highlights:

. Success Stories from former foster youth who have graduated from the program. Sale of arts and crafts created by the youth for the Black Expo.
