FYA Professional Development Training
 
On Tuesday, January 10th, from 9:30-12:30, the FYA Professional Development Training will focus on “Crisis Management & De-escalation Communication.” This training will be held at the ILSP office, 2647 International Blvd., Suite 312, Oakland.

Fya walkathon t-shirt design contest for youth

Oakland Housing Authority Openings
 
The Oakland Housing Authority (OHA) is opening up its wait list for the first time in many years. There are a number of sites around the city to which applicants can be referred.

The following Community Based Organizations can accommodate consumers:

• Health Care for the Homeless - 510-532-1930 or 510-533-4663
• Highland Hospital - 510-437-4366
• Alameda Public Health Department - 510-267-8000

City funds ($225,000.00) are available for a single proposal providing Sexually Abused and Commercially Exploited Youth (SACEY) Outreach Educators who will identify and contact youth who are victims of sexual exploitation throughout Oakland, provide advocacy to the identified youth, and perform community education and awareness about sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of youth. Applicants that demonstrate multi-cultural and multi-lingual capacity are heavily encouraged.

A Request for Proposals (RFP) was issued on Monday, December 19, 2005.
Complete proposals are due by 5 p.m. on January 20, 2006

Home at Last Project Surveys:
Foster Youths’ Contact with Court System
 

Home at Last, a national project based in Monterey Park, California, is gathering information for a white paper regarding youth participation in their own court proceedings. To that end, they are conducting a survey for youth and adults regarding contact that youth have with the court system while in foster care.

Please note that surveys, which take about 15 minutes to complete, are due by January 16, 2006.
